Janela

Can you resist them?  I suspect very few people visit the towns and villages of the Algarve without taking photos of the doors, windows and chimneys. Some of us though get carried away, and discover when we return home that our photo galleries are overwhelmed with them!  So today I thought I would share a few of my favourite windows with you – janela. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have in rediscovering them.

As well as windows to enjoy and the five storks to spot, there is a little challenge for you in this post. Can you spot the unusually placed bathroom object? If you don’t find it initially then refresh the page as the photos move around and change in size with every visit, and on a second or third view you might see it more easily. There is a clue below if you are struggling.

Did you find it? Let me know by leaving a comment. A rather odd place to locate the ‘banheiro’ I think! There are no blinds or shutters from what I could see at the time but I could be wrong. Go and have a peek yourself – not too difficult to find as it is at ground level and directly on one of the footpaths leading from Pingo Doce. Intriguing!

If like me you are becoming a bit obsessed, then pop across to Saudades de Portugal as they have created through their ‘10 x . . . ‘ feature some incredibly beautiful blog posts and galleries of Portugal’s doors and windows. If you fancy peeking at windows outside of Portugal or perhaps you have some glorious ones of your own to share then check out Dawn’s gorgeous A Lingering Look at Windows, a lovely monthly challenge which I discovered on Sunday.

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

  1. It’s very true. I fell in love with the doors I found all over Europe and have, as you say, an overwhelming number of them 🙂

    1. How wonderful, somehow the photographs of the everyday bring back more memories than the iconic when you travel.

  2. Oh I spotted it! As the need for emptying ones bowels also will be spotted by passers by.

There has got to be a hidden blinder-mechanism there somewhere, who takes a dump on display?

  3. Dear Becky,

No I could not locate Banheiro! Were you checking on me 😛

What is Jalena. Many words went way over my head lol 😛

Please let me know what they mean. Great pictures as usual.
