50 years ago in Olhão

I recently mentioned that we had come across in Dr Frederic P. Marjay’s ‘Algarve some lovely photographs of Olhão in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s. Well here they are.

You’ll no longer see carts with wheels this size, and we’ve never seen a nun!
If I took this photograph today it would look very similar.
You'll still see the fishermen repairing their nets, but now they tend to do this either on their boats or in the harbour.

This is Lovers Lane apparently. I've no idea where it is nor if I have ever walk along it. Something to investigate on our return!

    And …on
    Photo 1- the above represented nun (Dominican Catholic) is allowed to and usually does dress “normally” outside of the school or convent , at least the nuns from my old school have been doing it so for the last 40 years 😉
    Photo 2-but you will not spot the milkman … 😉
