Christmas Day Birdies

This morning after breakfast we went for a stroll with what seemed like most of Faro at Ludo and Lagoa de São Lourenço. It is a favourite weekend haunt for joggers, cyclists and families in this part of the east Algarve, and as we discovered this morning also on Christmas Day. There were however very few birders, and so most of the time we found ourselves alone as we enjoyed spotted everything from Hoopoes to Marsh Harriers to Spoonbills to the Sultana Bird. Here are just a few snaps from our 3 hour stroll earlier.

It was a lovely start to Christmas Day, and now as the sun sets we can begin to think about Christmas prezzies, champagne and dinner!

Feliz Natal!

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

  1. What a wonderful walk to have on Christmas Day. Superb shots of such a variety of birds. Hope the New Year brings you more joy. We will be in Monte Gordo for New Years Eve!

    1. It’s such an easy but lovely walk isn’t it. We were though surprised by the new path, fences and removal of the wooded area. Wonder what they have planned?

      1. We wandered quite a way along it before we realised we weren’t on the Sao Lourenco trail! Which was actually a bit disappointing? It was going to be my Monday walk but I’m not sure at the minute. I might have Boxing Day blues 🙂 🙂
