Natal na BaiXa de Faro

Christmas may seem weeks ago but we are only on day eleven of Twelvetide, so hopefully you will bear with me as I share my photographs of the wonderful Christmas trees we discovered in Faro on New Year’s Day.

 

The decorations are all made by the schoolchildren, of which the majority seemed to be aged under 6 years. All of the decorations are made out of recycled products such as bottles, paper, tins and plastic and incredibly most had survived the rain and strong winds between Christmas and New Year.

They were all wonderful and they kept us and our visitors amused for quite a while as you have to explore the streets of downtown Faro to find them all. Our favourite were the ones of Jesus, Mary and Joseph made out of cork in sardine cans.

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

    I don’t know if you are a bit dyslexic like me , but we do say BaiXa not Baxia
    As I’m always asking people to please correct my English , I felt you might want to know 😉

    1. Hiya Thanks for that. No just a typo when I was copying it and as my Portuguese is limited I didn’t spot it when proof reading. Now corrected 🙂

  5. Well that was fun, and I bet the children enjoyed designing them too. Have to agree with you, the sardine tins and corks were inspirational, also liked the ellies, but then I am rather fond of ellies 🙂

    1. It was wonderful – much nicer than the usual Christmas decoration you find on shopping streets.
