Can you spot the difference?

A very quick post for this month’s #PastMeetsPresent as I am in Belgium, but hopefully you will enjoy it. Can you spot the difference between Dr Dan Stanislawki’s 1950s shot and my more recent ones? Not sure? Try ignoring the fact I was slightly higher than Dan and look up river, or you may find it easier to take another look at my header photo!

1950s - what's missing?!And here's the view in 2015

What a difference it must have made to Mértola and in fact Alentejo as a whole when it first opened. Change can be positive sometimes! If you fancy exploring some other #PastMeetsPresent check out these two fabulous entries from last month.

And if you want to know more about Mértola then why not join me on an evening stroll or perhaps you’d prefer a magical road trip. Whichever adventure you take I am sure you will do as we have, and fall in love with this beautiful town in the south of Alentejo in Portugal.

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

  1. I can see the differences… 🙂 This is amazing. We should have before and after photographs for everywhere… But I am glad to see that building didn’t gone crazily… kept the nature beauty. Thank you dear Becky, have a nice day, Love, nia

  2. Oh, to be in Mertola right now, Becky! I’d cope with the heat. There are shady little bars, aren’t there? 🙂 🙂 Hope you’ve found a dry bit of Belgium and are having a wonderful time. I’ve got the sniffles but we still intend to meet up with some Algarve Stroller friends at Bolton Abbey today. Elegant in my little red rain cape 🙂 🙂 Many thanks for the link, hon.
