It has been a very long while

Apologies to all for the lack of posts this summer, life has been incredibly busy. However as Autumn fast approaches and our thoughts return to Portugal (Algarvian flights booked and a special trip to Porto planned), my thoughts return to this blog. I hope to share a few walks, a couple of nature posts and some Lisbon shots between now and our October return and then from November the blog will be back up and running with weekly posts. Today though please bear with me as I ease myself back into my Portuguese blogging life, with just a few of photographs.

The lighthouse is Farol do Cabo de Santa Maria, and is located on one of the barrier islands in the Ria Formosa. It is about four miles away from where I took these photographs, and we look out on it every day from our Portuguese apartment. The lighthouse dates back to 1851 and has been fully automated – four white flashes every 17 seconds – since 1997. I have more pictures here.

By the way I must say thank you to Brian, Amy, Ryan, and Debbie for inspiring me today to write a post on my Portuguese blog and share an everyday moment from our daily Portuguese routine; a walk in the Ria Formosa.

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

  1. Just back from a wonderful trip to Portugal myself, spent time in Estoril and then Lisbon, trip culminating in my baby grandson’s Christening – I too have a daughter-in-law with family there. That most westerly part of the coast is so different to the Algarve isn’t it? How lucky are you to have that view?!

  2. Hello Becky! Thank you for visiting my blog.
These are lovely images and I am looking forward to enjoy more.

  3. Right at the top of our bucket list. My daughter in law has family there and we are dying to get over. Big trip this year is Israel but maybe next year sigh. Loved your photos and welcome to the challenge!
