I had hoped by now to have bombarded you with walks and discoveries, but our first ten days back in Olhão da Restauração have not quite gone to plan. First up was an apartment change, which meant we couldn’t settle for a week. Then after the move we thought we may have to move back to the original apartment because of an awful noise from the roof. We (and they) think they have resolved the problem, but it isn’t certain. And whilst apartments have been up in the air there have been bouts of gastroenteritis and unsettled weather. Consequently we don’t seem to have got our act together yet. Thank goodness this stay is a long one.
We have though enjoyed some short strolls around the saltpans, caught up with our lovely neighbours, had lazy days reading books in the warm winter sunshine and been to the market multiple times. So I guess things are not that bad! All being well proper posts will be popping up here soon, but in the meanwhile I thought I’d share a few photographs of what I think are red-veined darters.
There have been so many of them flying around us on our strolls around the salterns, and they have also been seen on Armona. When we stood still they soon settled on the long grasses around us. Blending in so perfectly that at times it was difficult to see them. Wonderful to observe, and I am still somewhat amazed I managed to capture a few photographs. If I have identified these Sympetrum fonscolombii correctly the red ones are male, and the golden ones female.
Oh goodness I hope everything goes smoothly now, you’re there until spring?
Thank you, and yes fortunately we are 😊 will though be popping back regularly to catch up with family, the cat and to sort paperwork post Brexit!
Reading books and visiting markets sound like a lovely way to spend time. 😊
It certainly is, just whilst it was happening I wanted to walk but now looking back I think what a marvelous way to settle in!
Market therapy is good, Lovely dragonfly photos 🙂
Especially the markets here. They’re sooooooo good 😊
That’s something to look forward to 🙂
Reading books and visiting the markets both sound like great ways to ease yourself in. I hope things start to fall into place for you now.
