Ok I’ve recalled I thought they were Common Centaury, I know they weren’t that tall but as usual totally failed to photograph the whole plant so can’t be sure!!! When will I learn 🤦 Reply

They are stunning. Apparently quite common but we don’t see them that often. They like sandy/maritime places so maybe they’d like your place 😃

Maybe along the coast. My soil is very rich and moist.
