A wonderful Portuguese Christmas tradition

Unfortunately we are going to miss the presépios this year as we are in England for Christmas, but if you lucky enough to be in Portugal in December make sure you visit one!

One of the largest with more than 5,500 figurines can be found in the east Algarve, in Vila Real de Santo António.

It takes 40 days and 2,500 working hours to create this masterpiece, and even if you have been before it is well worth going back as every year they add something new. This year, for example, you need to look out for the Monte Gordo beach huts!

Amazingly this Presépio Gigante still only costs 50cents to visit, and if you have a few moments to spare now please do take a peak at last year’s post A Christmas must see in the Algarve

It had been a good life walking, cooking, photographing, volunteering, blogging, and best of all spending time with MrB, family, & friends. Sadly it is no longer what it was, as suddenly and unexpectedly I became a widow.

  1. I’ve just revisited your post from last year, this display is absolutely amazing and a great credit to those who take the time to create it – I just wish I could see it for myself 🙂
