The final home of José Francisco da Silva had multiple terraces, ornate ceilings and even a grotto. Consequently it is a rather lovely place to while away an hour or two, or even longer if you have enough pennies for an overnight stay. It is a pousada so comes with a price tag. However it has become a favourite for ours for taking visitors to for a coffee or light lunch, so I thought you might like to visit too as part of Flashback Friday & SquareUp.
The post below is one of my very early ones so I almost hesitated in sharing it again. However thanks to a quick edit with the new block editor is looks much better and so please visit as it contains some great images of this amazing place. To visit click on photo or title below, and if you enjoy exploring that post do come back here to check out another two that look at the fountains and the azulejos in more detail. The latter, even if I say so myself, is fascinating.
I can see why you would take friends there. Beautiful photos! 🙂
Thank you 😀
What a beautiful place–thanks for sharing it Becky!
Thank you so much for commenting
Not been since last year, with Lisa- heck, no- it’s the November before last! But I always cast my eye over it when we whizz along the motorway. 🙂 🙂
It looks like a fabulous place for a coffee or tea and a light meal. 😀 😀
It really is, although service can be very very slow! You soon discover Portuguese time 😉
Ahh, but with just coffee or tea, slow is good 😀
You’ll love it then 🙂
A little faded and the garden needed attention last summer.Breakfast demands a leisurely attitude to life ,a Portuguese requirement in all matters!
Hee hee, yes lunch can take a while too! I’m beginning to think those gardens are never going to be managed.
I loved going back to that wonderful post. The photos and words were so good 🙂 🙂
awww thanks 🙂
Rather marvellous
It is fabulous here, and you’d love the village too.
Sounds good
Maybe we could have a Works Outing there? 😉
Ooh yes!!!
I love the color of those buildings! That would definitely be worth seeing!
Gorgeous colour isn’t it 😊
Looks fabulous and would be a perfect image for the pink challenge (when it happens). I wonder how expensive it is to stay here. BTW when looking at this site on my phone or via the Reader it only shows part of the post and then a link “Visit Becky in Portugal for the full post” I have noticed this on a few blogs, possibly those with older themes?
hmmm interesting on the post view, I wonder if it is because I am inserting an older post. Will investigate
yay there will be a pink month!
Not all that expensive, depending on time of year and sometimes the Pousadas do offers. It is a bit out of the way, so you’d need a car though 🙂 🙂
