I am a fan of flamingos

We see regularly Phoenicopterus now in the Algarve, but each and every time I see them it feels special. It might explain why this is seventh dedicated post on them! To celebrate it here are seven we spotted the other day in the fish pond.

These are not the greatest shots I have taken of this bird, but I simply couldn’t resist capturing their bath time.

If you love them as much as I do then do explore my list below as you’ll find some fantastic shots in some of the other posts.

And if you are a fan of something why not join Jez with his weekly ‘Fan Of‘ challenge.

  1. Great shots, Becky 👏 I’ve never seen flamingos in the wild, so looking forward to exploring your other posts on these fantastic birds 😃 Thanks for joining in 😊

    1. Really hope you get to see them in the wild, my wish now is to see a flock in its hundreds. The largest we have seen at once here is around 30

  2. Wonderful, we go down to Doñana to see them in January. Water levels very low so perhaps Portugal better bet than Andalucia! Enjoy being in the pink of it!

        1. One of them has a ring so I have been able to identify it is Andalusian. Just sent an email to project leaders to let them know!

        2. A great tool for translating back into English as you can figure out the bizarre bit, but definitely a risk the other way!

        3. There’s a brilliant gizmo somewhere which will translate a sentence through 8 languages from English then back into English again. By the time it gets back to English for the second time it’s definitely Chinese Whispers. Wish I could remember its name.
