A small stretch of our legs in Moncarapacho

I just loved the rain pipes on the roof

Moncarapacho is a small agricultural town, north east of Olhão. Most tourists tend to visit during one of their festivals, the one in the summer is a 4 day affair.  We popped across the other afternoon for a short stroll., no carnivals or festivals so it was a lovely quiet day to explore.   Hardly anything was happening, just a few people chatting in cafes and the saddlery.

Moncarapacho is a charming place, more of a village than a town, with cobbled streets, a variety of cafes and restaurants, a small museum and lots of pretty doorways and colourful buildings.

If you ride and need a new saddle or other equipment then we spotted a wonderful saddlery, and if you are after garden ceramics there is a good factory shop. We did thinking about getting something but thought probably not frost proof and of course certainly be a challenge to squeeze into hand luggage!

Such an inviting window
The Saddlery – also seemed to be the place to go for a laugh and chat!
The church in the main square. I don’t recall those black clouds though!
The church beside the museum, a few yards from what looked liked a lovely pizza place
The small museum with its Roman collection
There are farms just behind the main square

We discovered by chance a short circular stroll which took us through the main square and then round the back of Moncarapacho past a couple of farms before re-entering the town on the main road from Estoi.

This was a mini stroll for Restless Jo’s Monday walks.  Have you come across Jo’s Monday walk yet?  If not, pop across there now or even better put it in your diary for every Monday for some fabulous walks – perfect for online walking and for actually doing them.  You could end up anywhere as her walks are all over England and beyond, plus she shares links to have great walks so well worth a look.  We actually did her Loulé one a few weeks ago – it was really lovely.  I’ll be posting more about that soon.  In the meanwhile happy walking!
