I recently mentioned that we had come across in Dr Frederic P. Marjay’s ‘Algarve some lovely photographs of Olhão in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s. Well here they are.

You’ll no longer see carts with wheels this size, and we’ve never seen a nun!
If I took this photograph today it would look very similar.
You’ll still see the fishermen repairing their nets, but now they tend to do this either on their boats or in the harbour.
Very few women seem to wear scarves like this now, but you possiblycould still capture a photograph like this in the hills
This is Lovers Lane apparently. I’ve no idea where it is nor if I have ever walked along it. Something to investigate on our return!
You will still see small carts, mostly used by gypsies these days.
It is still a cubist city
Olhão’s rooftops – I wonder if this was taken from the Church tower.
