I'm also on Instagram!

Porto Moniz is in the north west of Madeira, I don't seem to have to hand a photograph of the rock pools for which it is known. However i do have this rather wonderful ocean view ⠀
You can see where Madeira got it name in this shot, it is an island of wood! It is also volcanic, and very green and rugged. ⠀
Most people visit Santana to view the traditional homes constructed with sloping triangular thatched rooftops. I thought though I would stay looking out into the Atlantic - the ocean views are wonderful⠀
Even more popular is Cabo Girão, apparently at the height of the season nearly 2000 people come here a day to look out. ⠀
Another tourist favourite is Cascata dos Anjos - the waterfall cascades over the rockface onto the old E.R.101 regional roadway, and spills into the Atlantic below. ⠀
The cliff-top bluffs reach a height of 392 metres above sea level at Ponta do Pargo, not that we could see much on the day we visited!
