Unsurprisingly a few things have changed

It has been six months since we were last here so you would expect a few changes. Some are good such as the road from the airport to Olhão has finally been finished so you no longer have to drive through the centre of Faro.

Changes beyond the marina

Other changes we’ve yet to decide whether they are good or bad such as the destruction of the abandoned fishponds beyond the marina. So far the impact on the Ria Formosa seems negligible but the work is unfinished so this is clearly going to be a case of watch and see.

Fortunately though much is still the same such as the wonderful staff here at Real Marina Residence, the superb lunches at Vai e Volta and of course the fascinating birdlife of the Ria Formosa.

Grey Plover about to enjoy its lunch!

We haven’t done much since our return on Wednesday apart from stock up the cupboards and stroll around the saltpans.

We will though over the next five months be exploring new areas. For now though here’s a photograph from today when something quite wonderful happened.

The delightful Bluethroat very kindly posed for me without the plastic bottles, mud and weeds. Check out an earlier post of mine to find out why this made our Saturday! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday too wherever you are, and if you are spending today in front of your computer why not check out Six Word Saturday.
